The flat fee alone, as a share of a swap worth that much; each exchange’s percentage part comes on top. A fee from checks of an exchange’s own website is the median of that site’s own fits on this coin, marked Est. once it is more than a day old; an estimate from its quotes to Cambio is used only where no site check exists.
The chain
Why a USDT transfer on Tron costs what it does: energy
USDT on Tron is a smart contract, and calling a contract spends a resource Tron calls energy. A transfer to an address that already holds USDT uses roughly 65,000 energy; a transfer to an address that has never held it uses about twice that, because the contract has to create a balance entry. Whoever sends the payout either holds energy (by staking TRX, or renting it from a market) or burns TRX to pay for it on the spot.
That choice is most of the difference between exchanges. When Cambio paid out from its own wallets it measured the gap itself on 4 Aug 2026: about 6.4 TRX burned per transfer against about 4.4 TRX when the energy was rented. An exchange that rents or stakes can send for less than one that burns, and the fee you see is that sender’s cost plus whatever it chooses to add. The recipient needs no TRX to receive USDT.
Before you send
Before you receive USDT on Tron
- The address starts with T. A Tron address is 34 characters beginning with a capital T. An address beginning with 0x is Ethereum-style, and sending TRC20 USDT to it is a different network.
- The receiving side says TRC20. Some wallets and exchanges list USDT on several chains under one name. Pick the Tron (TRC20) deposit address, not the ERC20 or BEP20 one.
- A small swap feels the flat fee most. Compare what arrives at your size, not the rate. The worked example shows the same fee at three sizes, from a small swap to a large one.
- A first transfer to a fresh address costs the sender more energy. That is the sender’s cost, not yours, but it is one reason fees on Tron vary between exchanges.

Why does USDT TRC20 have a withdrawal fee at all?
Because sending USDT on Tron spends energy, and energy is paid for in TRX: staked, rented or burned. The exchange that sends your payout covers that cost and states or folds it into the rate.
Is the fee higher when my address is new?
For the sender, yes: a transfer to an address that has never held USDT uses about twice the energy of one to an existing holder. Most exchanges charge one flat fee either way.
Do I need TRX in my wallet to receive USDT?
No. Receiving costs nothing on Tron. You need TRX, or energy, only when you send USDT onward from that address.
