Why sending USDT on BNB Smart Chain costs so little
A BEP20 transfer is an EVM token call, the same shape as ERC20, and it uses a similar amount of gas. The difference is the price of that gas. BNB Smart Chain is run by a small, fixed set of validators who set a low minimum gas price, and they have cut it more than once since 2024. Paid in BNB, a token transfer usually costs well under a cent.
So on this chain a fee of several tenths of a USDT is mostly not the network. It is the exchange’s own handling charge, a buffer, or a flat fee set once for many chains. That is worth knowing when you compare: the chain gives every exchange nearly the same cost, so differences in the table are differences in pricing. USDC on BNB Smart Chain follows the same logic and appears as the second table.

- BEP20 is not BEP2. BEP2 tokens lived on the separate BNB Beacon Chain, which has since been shut down. Use a BNB Smart Chain (BEP20) address.
- The 0x address works on other chains too. Your BSC address is also a valid Ethereum and Arbitrum address. Choose BNB Smart Chain on the receiving side so the payout lands where you expect.
- Check the stated fee against the chain’s cost. Because gas here is so cheap, a large flat fee on BEP20 is a pricing choice. The rows show each one with its date.

Why is USDT on BNB Smart Chain cheap to send?
Its validators set a very low gas price, so a token transfer costs the sender a fraction of a cent in BNB. Most of any fee you see is the exchange’s own charge.
Is BEP20 the same as BSC?
Yes. BEP20 is the token standard on BNB Smart Chain (BSC). It is not BEP2, which belonged to the retired BNB Beacon Chain.
Can I receive BEP20 USDT at my Ethereum address?
The address format is the same, so a wallet that supports both chains can receive it. The coins sit on BNB Smart Chain, though, and are not visible on Ethereum.
